Changing Text Size
This site has been designed to allow you to control font sizes using your web browser.
To change font size in Internet Explorer
Select View > Text size followed by your preferred size. The default setting is 'Medium'.
To change font size in Firefox
Select View > Text size followed by 'Increase' or 'Decrease'. To go back to the default setting, select 'Normal'.
To change font size in Safari
Select View followed by 'Make Text Bigger' or 'Make Text Smaller'.
To change font size in Opera
Opera doesn't have a text-size feature. However, you can enlarge parts of the page using its 'zoom' feature: select View > Zoom followed by your preferred zoom size. If you use this facility you may find changing to the 'zoom' style using our Accessibility Options page makes this site easier to view.
Other Navigation features
Properly ordered Headings
Headings are used to divide pages up into different sections. Users of screen readers such as JAWS can navigate through the content of a page using headings.
At the top of each page is a link to Skip to site navigation. If you are using a screen reader, following this link will allow you to jump to the main menu of links for the site.
Other accessibility features
- Many pages feature a search box.
- Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail.
- Whenever possible, links are written to make sense out of context. Many browsers (such as JAWS and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page to allow them to be browsed separately.
- There are no links that open new windows without warning.
- All content images include alternative text descriptions which can be understood by assistive technologies. Purely decorative images are not given a description.
