Jane had a very successful career in the Hotel industry before her entrepreneurial aspiration and creative flair pushed her towards setting up her own footwear business. Having a business concept already in mind, she found P&M and took the Beginners Shoemaking course over a weekend in 2001. With the school's resources she started up the slipper brand Ruby, attended trade show and got attention and orders later from buyers including Fenwick, Browns, and the Hourse of Fraser. The label became Ruby & Ed today with backing from one of the biggest importer of slippers in the UK market. After Jane's become a mum she sold the brand to her business partner. She has now established a new career as an Image Consultant. |

Before attending P&M, Sarah had started her bag business but was struggling with some of the technical aspects that required more expert knowledge than her pervious training had provided. She then attended bag-making courses with tutor Lesley Taylor at P&M to improve her skills set and bring a greater degree of professionalism to her product. With the knowledge she managed to buy equipments and set up her own studio in her garden shed, now making all the samples and some stock for her rucksack brand Ruxx. Sarah has come back to take P&M's belt-making course to gain further knowledge for her accessories section. |

Jamk University first invited Melissa to participate in a lecture to their students along with Aki Choklat in 2008 and since then has commissioned her to deliver its Five-Day Shoe making course with P&M as part of its Summer School each year. The course has proved very popular and although most students who attend are entirely new to shoemaking, the standard of work is generally high and innovative results are often produced. The facilities at the University are excellent and visiting Finland brings an opportunity for P&M to both broaden its reach and draw inspiration from a country that has always put a great value on design and craftsmanship. JAMK also sends their students over to London for courses and training. The most recent course they did was PM's One-Day Clutch Bag Making. |

Award-winning designer Marion Ayonote has been running her own label for over 10 years. She came up with the design of the Icon Bag ( left) but no manufacturer in the market could produce the initial prototype. Her later collaboration with Prescott & Mackay made the sampling of the Icon bag possible. The final project was a success, and Marion received a special recognition award from BFIIN( British Female Innovators & Inventors Network) in 2009. The Icon Bag Series use the hand woven Aso-oke fabric as the main material. Click here to read the exclusive interview with Marion Ayonote on our blog |
