Two-Day Corsetry, Beginners, weekday

Duration: 14 hours

Class Times: 10am till 6pm

This class offers beginners the opportunity over just two days to make-to-measure their own boned bodice or corset that is guaranteed to transform the figure into a shape you didn't realise you had and certainly won't want to lose!

The course is aimed at both those looking to gain new skills in clothes making as well as fashion fanatics keen to create an original piece of vintage inspired lingerie.

During the first day students get to grips with manipulating patterns and making up a shape that will be fitted to their individual figure. Specialist material is used to form the base into which spiral bones are then inserted, producing the unique support that professional cut and styling of corsets provides.

Day two see the final making up and finishing with the objective of completing a finished garment by the end of the weekend.

The course tutor will contact each student prior to them attending the class to discuss their shape and make sure he is well prepared with base patterns to suit their general body shape.

What the Tutor says about this course

At the end of the two days, even though its been hard work and everyone is tired it's truly satisfying to see those smiling faces and realise how genuinely excited everyone is about what they've achieved. I feel very proud!

What students are saying about this course

The course was duration of two days. It was extremely interesting because it truly was a 'corset making' course. The patterns used had been adapted from originals, and they were made up using authentic materials such as coutil, spirals and laces.

Because the course was limited to few numbers it allowed the instructions to be demonstrated in an easy to understand basis, although still keeping on a professional standard. By this I mean major aspects of the making of corsets were maintained such as inserting busk's, spirals and the correct way to lace a corset.

This was not just a costume-making course, as the finished item can be worn by any girl, either underneath or over the top of a blouse. And the change in ones posture is felt immediately when it is put on and worn. The only down side is.. how long can a 21st century girl wear it for?

Some degree of accuracy is required so it helps to be a stickler for detail if you're looking to get good results.
