Shoemaking. General Evening Class
Duration: 25 hours
Class times: 6.30pm till 9pm
The class is ideal for anyone looking to pursue their interest in shoemaking over a period of time, either as a hobby or career choice. It is aimed at both beginners and improvers looking to acquire shoemaking techniques and develop their skills during short, regular sessions.
Beginners start with the basic principals of pattern cutting and move onto preparing and constructing a pair of ladies court shoes in their choice of materials. It is possible to complete a pair over the term, depending upon the general ability of each student and attending all the sessions.
Improvers cover more advanced areas of pattern cutting, preparing and constructions.
On-going evening classes are recommended for those requiring a more rounded understanding of shoemaking and pattern cutting techniques and to move on to concentrate on particular areas of interest.
A choice of ladies lasts are on offer for the use of students during the workshop sessions and shoes can be made in their own standard size (British 2 to 11, European 35 to 45, American 4.5 to 13.5), subject to availability.
