Course Content:

Week 1:

• Developing a design concept
• Exploring design techniques
• Communicating a Design Brief
• Interpretation of footwear design
• Technical drawing
• Producing a collection of designs
• Visit to a footwear factory

Week 2:

• Travel to Italy
• Visiting Lineapelle in Bologna - tradeshow featuring European exhibitors of footwear and accessory components and leather.
• Trend forcasting seminar
• Understanding the design and production cycle for the footwear industry
• Visit to an industry supplier

Week 3:

• Pattern Cutting for footwear
• Preparing footwear uppers for construction
• Preparing footwear components for construction
• Constructing a closed shoe

* Schedule could vary from these hours during trip to Italy
