Prescott & Mackay runs the Beginners Shoemaking Course as a satellite of our London course at Fourth Street Studios, Berkeley, USA. We have been travelling to the States to deliver our renowned shoemaking courses for the last 10 years. Shoemaking in the USA is always a great pleasure to teach, with such enthusiasm from all of our students. We have had people traveling from all over the United States and Canada, from as far afield as Georgia, Florida, Texas, Ontario and BC, to learn the art and craft of shoemaking. Students vary from keen hobbyists to serious business professionals, looking to enter or further a career in the footwear industry.

This two-day shoemaking course is aimed at newcomers to shoemaking, looking to learn the basics. You will study the fundamental techniques of shoemaking allowing you to complete a hand-lasted pair of ladies mules by the end of a session. No better way to dip your toe in and find out if shoemaking is right for you.

Shoemaking patterns are provided and the emphasis is on the making rather than design. You will come out with a much better understanding of the craft of shoemaking and know all the elements to consider when making shoes. The style you will make is very contemporary, with a 2 inch heel. It can be made in your own standard size (American 5.5 to 11.5) as well as from a variety of finishes, fabric or leather.

The price includes specialist shoe components.
