We now bring our unique shoemaking short courses to Australian shoe and craft lovers. Don’t miss the chance to take your first step into the stylish world of shoes and learn from some of the most experienced industry professionals. The class is located in a professionally equipped studio in Melbourne, with excellent facilities.
This two-day shoemaking course is aimed at newcomers to shoemaking, looking to learn the basics. You will study the fundamental techniques of shoemaking allowing you to complete a pair of ladies mules by the end of a session. No better way to dip your toe in and find out if shoemaking is right for you.
Shoemaking patterns are provided and the emphasis is on the making rather than design. You will come out with a much better understanding of the craft of shoemaking, and know all the elements to consider when making shoes. The style you will make is very contemporary, with a 2 inch heel, it can be made in your own standard size (British 2 to 9; European 35 to 42) as well as from a variety of finishes, fabric or leather.
The price includes specialist shoe components. However, please bring your own fabric/leather.
Things you need to bring with you:
- Material that you wish to use for your shoes, either a lightweight leather skin such as pig, calf or goat, or 1/2 metre of fabric which should not be too stiff or transparent.
- Sharp fabric scissors
- Notebook and pen
- Any trimmings you wish to use i.e. ribbon or feathers
You can find here a women size chart for UK, US and EU shoe sizes. In the unlikely case that the shoe size requested is not available, we will provide you with the nearest available size last and components to the one requested.
No previous shoemaking experience is necessary. Class maximum: 5 students.
